welcome to eta

eta prides itself on being South Africa's leader in educational programmes for the sport and fitness industry. As a single-purpose Sport and Fitness College, we dedicate ourselves to providing dynamic learning programmes that lead to internationally benchmarked qualifications.

Our programmes are approved by CATHSSETA (Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality, Sport, Sector, Education & Training Authority), accredited by the CHE (Council for Higher Education) and our qualifications are registered on the National Qualifications Framework by SAQA. In fulfilling these accreditation criteria, eta is registered as a private provider of higher education with the Department of Higher Education and Training. To ensure that we meet the needs of sport and fitness in South Africa, eta is also a licensed service provider with SRSA (Sport & Recreation South Africa). Our qualifications are internationally benchmarked against best practice in sport and fitness thus our graduates are able to find employment easily; in South Africa and all over the world.. More >>

REPS SA
Our previous newsletter informed you about pending fitness legislation which I said would not be “going away”.  While I said it was not going away, it has not been published either.  In fact, I hear it has gone back to the drawing board!

The good news is that South Africa now has a professional register of exercise professionals and REPS SA was launched here in April 2011.  REPS SA has gathered so much momentum that is has exceeded its anticipated membership, according to Scott Schreuder, the REPS SA CEO.

There will be a link our website to REPS SA so you can stay informed and find out more about this professional register for exercise professionals in SA.  I urge all qualified practitioners to join REPS.  To show our support for the register and our commitment to the profession, we are providing one year’s membership to REPS SA for all our graduating fitness students.

Scott Schreuder recently attended a ground-breaking meeting in Milan this year.  This meeting consisted of all the REPS bodies from around the world and the aim of the meeting was to ensure that they could agree an international standard of exercise professionals internationally.  REPS SA was part of this international body of fitness professionals and I am excited about the potential that this creates for you – our eta students and graduates.

To find out more about REPS in South Africa, you can contact Scott Schreuder at the Register of Exercise Professionals South Africa on scott@repssa.com, +27 82 338 8410 or visit the website onwww.repssa.com.
