The eta has developed a range of exciting short courses to empower students with workplace skills so that they can function effectively in their existing and new working environments. The courses are taught at eta campuses or as distance learning programmes.

This course on cricket coaching for beginner and intermediate players will enable you to add a valuable qualification to your current competencies. If you coach, or want to coach you can add this course to your skills set.   If you are not fully qualified, completing this course is a great start to your path in the sport industry or it can simply be something to add value to that hobby you love. 

The following candidates will benefit from this course:

  1. Fitness practitioners

These are qualified practitioners who have completed a qualification containing exercise science and nutrition equivalent to NQF level 5 or CYQ level 3.

  1.    Bridging candidates

These are candidates who have not completed exercise science and nutrition at NQF level 5 or CYQ level 3 in a previous qualification. If they wish to enter this learning programme, they need to complete the Exercise and Fitness Studies for an additional fee

  1.   Hobbyist candidates

 These are candidates as described in point two above who do not wish to complete Exercise and Fitness Studies. They may complete this course but will not receive certification.

Admission and Certification Criteria

  1. Qualified applicants who already have a qualification which contains exercise science and nutrition at NQF Level 5 or CYQ Level 3 need to complete the learning and assessment criteria for the specialisation only.
  2. Applicants who are studying a qualification with eta that includes exercise science and nutrition need to complete the learning and assessment criteria for the specialisation only.
  3. Applicants who do not have a qualification which contains exercise science and nutrition at NQF Level 5 or CYQ Level 3 need to complete the learning and assessment criteria for the Exercise and Fitness Studies and their chosen specialisation.
  4. Qualified practitioners must provide proof of their certification if they wish to be exempt from the Exercise and Fitness Studies.
  5. No certificates are issued unless fees are paid and all assessment criteria have been achieved.
  6. On successful completion of all learning activities and prescribed assessment tasks, students receive their certification.

Subjects include:

  1. Operate as a coach and the history of cricket
  2. Basic concepts, rules, regulations, umpiring
  3. Skills of the sport, game plans and tactical plans
  4. Planning, implementing and teaching practice sessions
  5. Coaching players at a competitive event
  6. Evaluating the effectiveness of the coaching experience

You receive the following:Course manual, file with study guide and evidence portfolio and CD to access the laws of the game.

Learning and assessment process: You will be provided with instructions for the learning process along with learning activities and assessment tasks to monitor your progress. As part of the learning process you will be required to complete your portfolio of evidence. At the end of your learning process you will be required to submit completed formative tasks, knowledge test and a completed practical demonstration.

Duration:  The programme content is based on two hundred and sixty learning hours. Note: The programme is learner paced. Students learn at different rates and some become competent and confident sooner than others. The learning process for students studying at a campus is twofold: The first part consists of one or more classroom sessions to understand the learning process and explain evidence gathering and assessment. The second part is intense practical sessions. The amount of sessions will be decided by the facilitator based on student progress. Distance learning students do not attend classes.
