Health, fitness and sport are all contained in vibrant, exciting and rewarding industries. Within these industries there is a wide choice of working environments to stimulate and challenge you. The eta has developed a range of specialisation short courses to empower and enable you with skills so that you can function effectively in the workplace. The courses are available as modular programmes taught at eta campuses or as distance learning programmes. In all programmes the student will be provided with a guided learning process and assessments to monitor and evaluate progress. The short-course specialisations below assume that you have a qualification with an accredited provider which includes exercise science and nutrition. If you do not hold an industry qualification then you need to complete the following two modules before the course. These are (1) Exercise and Fitness Studies and (2) Nutrition and Weight Management. • Course fees include course material and assessment.  For contact students, a deposit of 10% of the course fee is required two weeks before course commencement.  The deposit is deducted off the course fee once balance of fees are paid.  Distance learning students do not pay a deposit, they pay full fees before receiving their course material and tutor support.

This course on teaching Indoor cycling classes to music will add a valuable qualification to your current competencies.  On successful completion, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of a range of Indoor cycling exercises and be able to teach Indoor cycling classes to music.

This course on teaching Vinyasa will give you a valuable qualification to add to your current competencies as a fitness practitioner or a coach.  On successful completion of the course, you will understand the principles and theory of Vinyasa yoga and be able to teach a range of yoga exercises to individuals or to groups.   This specialisation introduces you to yoga as an exercise modality and a mind-body practice.  Students wishing to explore yoga as a spiritual practice are encouraged to pursue advanced courses once they qualify with this specialisation.

Exercise and Fitness Studies

This course in Exercise and Fitness studies provides the relevant exercise science background required for admission into eta’s short courses.    The course has been benchmarked against the requirements of CYQ accreditation and for acceptance on to the register for exercise professionals (REPS).
